In 2011 (Sophomore): Zephan made 32 starts in
36 appearances in his sophomore season, making most of his starts
at second base…he drove in 15 runs and scored 19 times,
while hitting .267…went 4-4 in stolen base attempts and
recorded 95 putouts in the field…tallied two walks in two
separate games, and recorded three hits against Purdue…put
together a nine-game hitting streak, which included four multi-hit
games.
In 2010 (Freshman): Stepping in to fill the third
base position for an injured Devin Rivers mid-season, Guyear
stepped up to the challenge of switching starting roles and hit
.333 from April 13 through the end of the season...started a total
of 31 games for Tech, mainly at the second and third base
positions, recording .320 average overall...went 41-128 with six
doubles, two triples and three home runs, batting in 28 runs and
accumulating 60 total bases...maintained a .469 slugging percentage
over the course of the season and a .396 on-base percentage...his
first 50 at-bats, Guyear held his average about .400.
Marion County High School: Earned four letters in
baseball playing in the infield, outfield and pitching…named
2009 6AA Player of the Year, 2008 6AA All-District, 2008 and 2009
Chattanooga Times Best of Preps…led his team to four
consecutive district 6AA championships, and regional championships
in 2007 and 2008…in 2009 hit 13 doubles, four triples, three
home runs, with 46 RBIs, 23 stolen bases and a .429 batting
average…hit .403 for his career.
