Kaitlyn Gehler is in her first season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tennessee Tech beach volleyball program following her hiring in February 2025. She also serves as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Golden Eagle indoor volleyball squad.

Gehler joined the Tech programs after spending the two prior seasons on the staff at Marshall. Originally hired as the director of volleyball operations for the 2023 season, she was elevated to the role of assistant coach for the 2024 campaign. In her first season as an assistant, the Thundering Herd strung together a 15-14 mark overall.

"I'm incredibly excited to join Tennessee Tech and be a part of the Golden Eagle volleyball program," Gehler expressed. "I'm grateful for this opportunity and eager to bring my energy and experience to the team. With the foundation that Coach Phillips has built and the direction the program is heading, I look forward to working alongside her to contribute to the continued success of Tennessee Tech volleyball."

Gehler took on extended duties with Marshall following the 2023 season after the departures of former assistants Bijonae Jones and Charlie French. She flourished in the elevated role and was an integral part of the team's development and operations during the Spring of 2024.

"Kaitlyn is going to bring enthusiasm to our program that will ignite a new level of fire for us," Phillips said. "She is ready to hit the ground running and I know she will work extremely hard to take us to the next level.  We are a special and crazy family here and she is 100 percent bought-in to being the newest member. I always say that you can do magical things when surrounded by great people, and that absolutely describes Kaitlyn."

The Waterloo, Wis. native joined Marshall's staff in 2023 after competing with the Thundering Herd in her final year of eligibility as a graduate transfer libero. She led the team with 409 digs while adding 93 assists in the 2022 season.

Prior to her arrival in Huntington, W.Va., Gehler was a two-year member of the volleyball team at the University of Wyoming, racking up well over 300 digs during the 2020-21 COVID-shortened season and 2021 campaign. The libero began her collegiate career at the University of Memphis, racking up 833 digs across 216 sets and 58 matches in two seasons.

A 2021 fall graduate of Wyoming, Gehler received her bachelor's degree in Spanish and is currently pursuing her master's degree in education at Marshall.
