COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech athletics is issuing a
“save the date” notice to golfers in the region, and
those who enjoy a busy weekend filled with good times.
The dates to mark on your calendar are June 5-6-7, when Tech will
host the highly popular Pepsi Bobby Nichols Scramble, presented by
Budweiser. The tournament will be held at three area golf courses
and feature approximately 500 golfers playing three rounds of
tournament golf.
Another important date for the 2015 Bobby Nichols Scramble is
Tuesday, March 10, when registration begins for the tournament.
Golfers who register early will get the first choice of tee times
and courses for play on Friday and Saturday. Registration will be
available online, on the phone or in person at the Eblen Center
ticket office.
The tournament is named in memory of former player, coach and
Hall of Famer Bobby Nichols.
The field of 512 is expected to be completely filled for the
tournament, so participants are encouraged to register as soon as
possible. Over the past 34 years, the tournament has grown into one
of the largest and most popular golf tournaments in the
Southeast.
The Bobby Nichols Scramble, a major fund raising event for
Tennessee Tech Athletics, is a two-person scramble that features 18
holes each of three days, with a championship flight and 17
additional flights determined following the first two rounds.
The tournament will be held at Ironwood Golf Course, Cookeville
Golf Club and White Plains Golf Club.
"This three-day tournament is not only an exciting and enjoyable
event, it is also an important fundraising event for the Tennessee
Tech Athletics Department," said Mark Wilson, TTU Director of
Athletics. "The primary purpose is to generate revenue for the
athletic teams and student-athletes, while providing three great
days of golf and fellowship."
Pepsi returns as the title sponsor for the 11th year with
Budweiser in the 10th year as the presenting sponsor.
The competing golfers can take advantage of three practice
rounds – one at each of the three courses - anytime after
they have paid their registration in full for the tournament.
In addition to the three days of golf and three practice rounds,
participants will also receive a ticket to Doc Fields' Friday night
golf party/concert, and the Cumberland Insurance BBQ on Saturday
night, a chance at hole-in-one prizes and a chance at a million
dollar shot. The entry fee also includes golf carts each day during
the tournament and a gift for each competing golfer.
The Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble, presented by
Budweiser, will feature major hole-in-one prizes plus prizes for
longest drive and closest to the pin contests. Gift certificates
for winners in 18 flights will be returned to the golfers finishing
highest in their flights.
