After serving as Tech's athletics equipment coordinator for each of the past two years, Robert Burchfield has transitioned into a new role with the department, taking over as the senior external coordinator for facilities and events.

In his new position at Tech, Burchfield will help with all game management for Tech's home basketball and football games, as well as soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, and tennis. He also will assist in the maintenance all of Tech's athletic facilities.

Prior to officially joining the Tech department of athletics as the athletic equipment manager, replacing Tony Ramirez in the role, Burchfield spent nearly three-and-a-half years on the staff as a student equipment manager.

Burchfield earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Coaching and Sport Administration from Tech in May 2015, then earned his master's degree in Exercise Science/Sports Management in May 2017.

Previously, he helped start the soccer program at DeKalb County Middle School as an assistant coach and was a league director for the Upward Indoor Soccer League through Trinity Assembly. He also served as a graduate assistant for the exercise science department at Tech.

Burchfield is a current member of the American Equipment Managers Association and the American Football Coaching Association.
