Schreiber is the greatest running back to don Tech’s purple and gold. He broke 27 school and seven OVC records. He earned All-American honors his senior year, the only offensive back to do so at Tech. He was also the OVC’s Player of the Year. He won the Robert Hill Johnson award three times and was the first Tech rusher to gain more than 1,000 yards rushing in a season. In 1970 he joined the San Francisco 49ers, starting a professional career that lasted eight seasons before retiring as a Chicago Bear in 1978.
