Elwin Midgett played baseball, football, and basketball for Tech in the early 1930s. As a football player, he was instrumental in the team rolling to a 20-9-4 record in four seasons under coach Putty Overall, including an unbeaten 4-0-3 mark in 1932. In 1933, he was named the Mississippi Valley League MVP. He was also twice named All-Conference in basketball.
