A runningback and defensive back out of Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Ricky topped 1,000 yards rushing for the Irish but will open his collegiate career as a safety for the Golden Eagles. A four-year, two-way starter Ballard rushed for 1,048 yards on 147 carries with 13 touchdowns and 7.1 yards per carry. From the secondary, he had 12 career interceptions and 325 total tackles. He was named to the Best of Preps and team captain, and was a two-time all-state selection and three-time district Player of the Year at both positions.
