Cody Dodd: Stepping over the cracks in the sidewalk she travels

COOEKVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech volleyball senior Cody Dodd has been through much in the past few years, including the deaths of both her father and her mother. With the help of her teammates and the sport of volleyball, the Cookeville native has come through it all, and leads her team this weekend in its first home matches of the 2015 season.

Dodd and her squad host the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Hampton Inn, the first opportunity for fans to see the team in action following three weekends of tournament play on the road. Tech faces Towson Friday at 10 a.m., Western Carolina at 7:30 p..m., and Idaho Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Three other matches are scheduled in Eblen Center Friday and Saturday, and admission is free.

Dodd was invited to play in New Orleans during the summer as one of 36 athletes participating in the U.S. Collegiate National Team (CNT) program. She trained and competed in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships, June 21-29.

The 6-foot-4 Dodd, a graduate of Cookeville High School, was a preseason all-OVC selection for 2015.

Marc Graham, a video coordinator for the Golden Eagle Sports Network, has produced a video cataloging Dodd's story.
