COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With that ever-important first OVC victory under their belts, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (3-12, 1-3 OVC) will look to continue their climb up the standings as they take on UT Martin and Murray State.

"It was huge to get that first OVC win against Tennessee State," head coach John Blair said. "We all felt that it came a little late but we will take. The team knows that there's a lot more work to do."

Tech begins the week against the UT Martin Skyhawks Friday, at 7 p.m. The Golden Eagles own an impressive 34-18 all-time record against the Skyhawks and are currently riding a seven-match winning streak against UTM dating back to 2005. Presently the Skyhawks have a 3-13 record and are 1-3 in OVC play.

TTU finishes the weekend Saturday squaring off with the Murray State Racers, at 2 p.m. The Racers have a slight edge in the all-time series at 26-24, but over the last three seasons each team has compiled a 4-4 heads-up record. MUR currently ranks fourth in the OVC with a 6-9 record and a 2-2 OVC record.

"I feel that everyone is a little better than what their overall records tell us," Blair said. "Everyone in our conference has gotten better and just looking at the record won't tell you how good they are. It won't be clear where everyone stands until after everyone plays a few more conference matches.
