EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Maaliya Owens has been a driving force for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team all season long. When the Ohio Valley Conference announced its all-conference teams on Tuesday on the eve of the annual postseason tournament in Evansville, it certainly was no surprise to see Owens among the top vote-getters as she claimed a first-team All-OVC selection for the second season in a row.

Owens, a graduate guard from Georgetown, Ky., has continued her torrid pace from last season and has seen a statistical uptick as she is averaging 15.1 points per game and 3.4 rebounds, while she has 76 assists, 13 blocks and 35 steals – all more than she recorded last season during the Golden Eagles' OVC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament run.

She set the single-season 3-point record last season with 92 made treys. This season, Owens stands nine 3-pointers away from tying her own record and 24 away from tying Jordan Brock for the program record.

Over the course of the season, Owens has climbed to second in 3-pointers made and 15th in career scoring with 1,474 points entering the week.

She posted a new career-high in scoring this season with 30 points against Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky back on December 3, while also setting new career-bests in rebounds (10 at Southeast Missouri on Feb. 8), free-throws made and free-throws attempted (8 at Kentucky).

Out of the 29 games played this season, Owens has scored in double figures in 22 of those, scored above her 15.1 average 14 times and nine times with 20 points or more. She collected her first career double-double at Southeast Missouri with 10 rebounds and 18 points. She has six games this season with five or more 3-pointers made.

The Golden Eagles play Western Illinois in the OVC Tournament first-round contest at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ford Center.
