COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech women's basketball added size and strength during the early signing period as head coach Kim Rosamond announced on Wednesday the addition of 6-1 post Amelia Pfeiffer. A talented forward from Alcoa High School, Pfeiffer will join the program in the fall of 2024.
Under the direction of David Baumann, Pfeiffer garnered all-district and all-state selections leading Alcoa to a regional championship and state runner-up finish during her sophomore campaign.
"Our staff is ecstatic about the size, skill, and physicality Amelia will add to our team," Rosamond said. "She loves contact, can score with her back to basket and can knock down the 15-footer. Her ability to rebound and defend at a high level caught our attention during the recruiting process. She brings a physical presence to our inside game and adds depth to the post position for the next four years."
The Maryville, Tenn., native played on the summer travel circuit with the Alabama Southern Starz 17U EYBL program this past year.
An exceptional student, Pfeiffer is a member of her school's National Honor Society, has been named to the Honor Roll every semester and has already earned her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
The daughter of Scott Pfeiffer – who played football at Tennessee from 1992 to 1995 -- and Rachel Reel, she plans to enroll at Tech in exercise science with an emphasis on pre-physical therapy. Pfeiffer also will reunite with her sister, Ainsley, who is a manager for the women's basketball team.
"Tennessee Tech has had a special place in my heart since the beginning of my recruitment," Pfeiffer said. "I instantly formed close relationships with the coaching staff, and once I got to spend time with the team, it was an easy decision. I chose Tech because it felt like a second family."
