Tech women's basketball releases 2017-18 schedule

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – About two months out from the season, Tennessee Tech women's basketball has announced its 2017-18 schedule, featuring 15 home games, a challenging nonconference slate and, as always, 18 Ohio Valley Conference match-ups.

"Our schedule will test and challenge us early, but it will also prepare our team for what awaits us in OVC play," said head coach Kim Rosamond. "I am excited about the high-caliber competition we will face on the road, as well as the quality of teams we will bring to the Hoop. We look forward to sharing in this season's journey with our loyal Golden Eagle fanbase and putting a product on the floor they will be proud to watch."

Tech begins with an exhibition game against Tusculum College on Nov. 5 and officially kicks off nonconference play vs. Tennessee Wesleyan on Nov. 10. Ohio Valley Conference action starts on Dec. 28 against Morehead State and closes on Feb. 24, 2018 vs. Jacksonville State.

The OVC Tournament, which has moved from Nashville to Evansville, Indiana, lasts from Feb. 28 to March 3, 2018.

Along with its OVC slate, Tech has put together a competitive 11-game nonconference schedule, featuring nine teams with winning records during the 2016-17 season.

Tennessee Wesleyan (Nov. 10)

  • 2016-17 meeting: Tech won 54-41
  • 2016-17 overall/Appalachian Athletic Conference record: 18-14/13-9 (finished 5th in final AAC regular-season standings and lost in the AAC Championships finals to Bryan College 72-47)
  • Postseason: --

at Middle Tennessee (Nov. 14)

  • 2016-17 meeting: Middle Tennessee won 73-62
  • 2016-17 overall/Conference USA record: 23-11/15-3 (finished 2nd in final C-USA regular-season standings)
  • Postseason: lost in the WNIT third round to Georgia Tech 70-57

at East Tennessee State (Nov. 17)

  • 2016-17 meeting: East Tennessee State won 82-76
  • 2016-17 overall/Southern Conference record: 16-14/8-6 (finished 3rd in final SoCon regular-season standings and lost in the tournament quarterfinals to Samford 67-64)
