Barnes to compete in East Asia with U.S. Eagles basketball team

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Golden Eagle incoming senior Terrell Barnes will be in East Asia from June 3-17 with the U.S. Eagles Men's Basketball Team, competing with high-level and professional teams in several large cities. The Eagles' competition schedule is still being finalized.

The trip is a cultural exchange that supports the development of basketball on an international level. Beyond the thrill of competition, the Eagles seek to serve their opponents by offering training that will help them improve their basketball skills and develop a more western playing style.

In addition to basketball training, players for the Eagles will be involved in a leadership development program designed to promote integrity and character both on and off the court.

The trip will begin with a team training camp at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, N.Y., on May 29. At camp, the players from various Euroleagues and NCAA Division I universities will meet and practice together before embarking on the two-week endeavor.

"It is awesome, it's absolutely beautiful up here in Speculator," Barnes said of his surroundings in upstate New York. "I can see the mountains, it's amazing. We're just having a really good time.

"It's great meeting the guys and bonding with them as teammates," Barnes continued. "We've got a few more days of camp and then we leave Saturday night. By Sunday, I'll be in Asia. I'm really looking forward to traveling the region and playing ball over the summer."

The U.S. Eagles are comprised of Euroleague athletes and Division I athletes from around the country. Universities represented include: Murray State, Saint Louis, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Washington State. Paul Fortier (Washington) will coach the team.

**The TTU men’s basketball program will host one individual camp from June 3-6 (Sunday-Wednesday,) open to boys ages eight to 18 and three different team camps over the course of two weeks in June. The first and third sessions will be open to high school and junior high school players and will be held from June 11-13 and June 20-22. The second session will be open to high school aged campers only, and will run from June 17-19.
