COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After taking second place in the Samford Tournament this past weekend and earning three spots on the All-Tournament team, the TTU women’s soccer team is back in action in Cookeville and ready for a Wednesday afternoon game against WAC opponent Louisiana Tech.

Coming off a split of games on the weekend -- defeating the Georgia Southern Eagles on Friday and falling to the Samford Bulldogs on Sunday -- the Golden Eagles face another team of Bulldogs in Louisiana Tech, who are 6-2 in 2010.

The Golden Eagles are perfect at home for the 2010 season, having defeated UNC-Asheville in their home opener on Sept. 5 in front of a record-setting crowd. They look to continue defending their home turf against LA Tech Wednesday in a game that will post as the first matchup between the two teams.

Another trend began to surface with the Asheville game. Sophomore Kris Cambron netted her first goal of the season against UNCA and also started the scoring for Tech in the game against Georgia Southern. Cambron has therefore scored goals in each Golden Eagle win during this still brief season. The Golden Eagles will look to the returning OVC Co-Freshman of the Year from 2009 to jumpstart their offense yet again against Louisiana Tech.

Prepped to face a challenging schedule in the WAC, where they will go up against teams such as Boise State, Fresno State and San Jose State, the Bulldogs will surely bring an intense and competitive atmosphere to Tech.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge that Louisiana Tech will bring to Cookeville,” said head coach Daniel Brizard. “They’re using a tough non-conference schedule to prepare for the WAC, taking on teams like Arkansas State in the Sun Belt, Texas State in the Southland, and three teams from the OVC in Murray, Jacksonville State and us.

“Louisiana Tech has already proven to have a solid offense that will test our defensive line, so our defense is really going to need to come together in the backfield early on to keep them from building an attack.”

Students attending the game are encouraged to come in large groups, ready to show their support the team. The best dressed group with the most signs and swag will receive a special prize to be determined by the soccer team. Extra consideration will be given to the group that is the loudest on game day!
