Golden Eagle soccer team visits Middle Tennessee Sunday at 4 p.m.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After seven days off of competitive play, the TTU women's soccer squad will bring the summer to a close with a road game in Murfreesboro, Tenn., against the MTSU Blue Raiders on Sunday, at 4 p.m.

The game will mark the last of three regular season games played by the Golden Eagles before the start of the 2010-11 academic calendar year, which begins on Monday.

Tech matched up with MTSU last season for the first time in five years. During each of the previous matches, the Golden Eagles shouldered 4-0 losses to the Blue Raiders.

With 20 returning letter-winners from last year who have seen MTSU in action, the Golden Eagles will be looking to avenge the past two meetings and narrow the gap in the all-time 2-10 record, lead by MTSU.

A previous member of the Ohio Valley Conference, MTSU suffered their final OVC loss at the hands of Tech in 1999 when the Golden Eagles eliminated the Blue Raiders from the OVC tournament.

"The in-state rivalries are always exciting, and Middle has proven to provide some intense non-conference competition for Tech since they left the OVC," said head coach Daniel Brizard.

"We're hoping that the experience from our veteran players who faced MTSU just last season will lead us toward a different outcome than that of our last two meetings with the Blue Raiders."
