First match-up on Tech turf comes Saturday evening against Tennessee Wesleyan

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Just 11 days into pre-season, the Golden Eagle soccer team will host the first event of the 2010-2011 athletic season at home, when they match up against Tennessee Wesleyan College in a Saturday evening exhibition. The game will mark the first time the two teams have matched up in school history.

The TTU team is coming off of a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Alabama on Monday, Aug. 9, and has been working for the past four days on using their experiences against the Crimson Tide to hone their skills as a team in preparation for the contest against the Lady Bulldogs. They will also be looking to defend their home turf, as one of their primary goals this season is to maintain an undefeated record in Cookeville.

Tennessee Wesleyan has yet to open their competitive season, as the game on Saturday will mark their first contest of the year. They finished with a record of 5-12-2 last year, 3-4-0 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, a member of the NAIA.

Tech finished 7-12-3 last season, with a 3-3-2 record in the OVC. They will start their regular season, non-conference play on the road against Auburn on Aug. 20.
