Golden Eagle women's golf team finishes 13th at EKU Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up play at the EKU Colonel Classic Saturday afternoon, posting a final round score of 316 to finish 13th overall while competing at the University Club at Arlington.

For the tournament, the Golden Eagles finished with a 952 composite score, turning in rounds of 318, 318 and 316. Eastern Kentucky won its own event, firing an 875 on its home course.

Among the Tech lineup, junior Shelby Johnson led Tech throughout the event, completing the weekend with a 235 behind scores of 76, 78 and 81. The veteran tied for 42nd overall among the field of 81 golfers.

Freshman Heidi Lawson was next in line among the Tech scorers, tying for 46th behind a 237. She turned in a third-round 77 to go along with a 79 and 81 from day one. Tying for 58th was sophomore Isabel York, whose 240 was backed by rounds of 82, 81 and 77.

Carding a 243 was sophomore Kate Mashburn. She tied for 66th with scores of 81, 78 and 84. Lindsay Miller rounded out Tech's lineup with a 274 (85-81-81).

Leading all Golden Eagle participants as an individual was Hannah Bratton. The sophomore tied for 26th overall after posting a 230 with scores of 78, 75 and 77. The 230 represented a career-low 54-hole performance for the youngster.

Also competing as an individual was junior Arianna Clemmer, who tied for 50th overall. She carded a 238 with scores of 75, 81 and 82.

Tech will return to action next weekend, kicking off the two-day Murray State Invitational on Friday, Apr. 5 at Miller Memorial Golf Club.
