Tech women's golf tied for fifth headed into final round of Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team closed out round two of the seventh annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Monday afternoon, posting a 312 to bring its tournament total to 615 through two days of action.

Competing on the Highlands Course at Sevierville Golf Club, the Golden Eagles finished the day tied for fifth place in the 12-team field with Lee University and Carson-Newman.

Pacing the purple and golf on Tuesday was senior Lindsay Miller, who tied for 14th among the 73 participants. Miller carded a 3-over 74 on the day, bringing her two-day total to 150 after shaving two strokes off of her first-round score.

Fellow veteran Shelby Johnson turned in a 5-over 76 in her second time through the Highlands Course, combining with a 75 in the first round for a total of 151. The junior ranked 16th overall, just one shot back of her teammate.

Youngster Heidi Lawson and Kate Mashburn each tallied 81s on Tuesday, rounding out the contributors to the Tech team total on the day. The freshman Lawson completed round two in a tie for 34th with a two-day score of 159. A sophomore, Mashburn was tied for 48th after totaling 163 through two days.

Tied for 30th following the second round was junior Arianna Clemmer, who shot an 83 for a 157 overall. Sophomore Hannah Bratton put forth an 80 while competing as an individual, ranking her in a tie for 41st with a 161 total.

Fellow individual Isabel York boasted a huge bounce-back round from day one, slashing 13 strokes off of a 90 on Sunday to fire a 77 on Tuesday. The sophomore tied for 55th after rounding out the second day of the BNI with a 167.

The third and final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate is set to begin with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. CT Tuesday morning.
