Tech's fifth-place finish highlighted by Miller's All-Tournament performance

GLENCOE, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team concluded action at the Chris Banister Fall Classic Tuesday afternoon, finishing fifth overall at Silver Lakes Golf Club behind a top-five finish from Lindsay Miller.

The senior collected her first career All-Tournament honors after placing fifth overall among the 40 participants. Miller compiled a 225 (79-70-76), powered by a career-low 70 during the second round of action on Monday.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up play at 953 (324-314-315) overall, a whopping 29 strokes better than sixth-place Alabama State. Tech also finished just eight shots behind Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay.

Making her collegiate debut in the event, Heidi Lawson closed out her first career event second among the Tech participants, tying for 19th overall. The freshman carded a 242 (84-80-78), showing steady signs of improvement each day.

Junior Shelby Johnson posted a 244 (81-81-82) behind consistent play, finishing 21st overall. Fellow junior Arianna Clemmer was next among the Golden Eagles, ranking 26th behind a 248 (80-83-85).

Rounding out the starting lineup for Tech was sophomore Isabel York, who notched a 255 (86-90-79) to finish 30th. Competing as an individual, sophomore Hannah Bratton enjoyed another solid round to moved up the leaderboard and finish 22nd overall behind a 245 (94-75-76).

Jacksonville State captured the team title at its own event, edging Murray State by three shots with a 904 (301-302-301). Gamecock Paula Vega easily claimed individual medalist honors after carding a 215 (69-73-73).

The Golden Eagles will jump right back into action next week, making a trip to Greensboro, N.C. for the Starmount Fall Classic. Located at Starmount Forest Country Club, Tech will play 54 holes in two days starting Monday, Oct. 1 and concluding Tuesday, Oct. 2.
