Golden Eagles head to Auburn Regional for 2015 NCAA Tournament

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It was a festive and celebratory atmosphere inside the Eagles Nest Sunday evening, as fans, staff, and administration packed the place to watch the NCAA Tournament selection show with the rest of the Tennessee Tech softball team.

The Golden Eagles (32-26) will be off to the Auburn University for Regionals of the NCAA Tournament, locking up with the nation's No. 4 seed on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT. Chattanooga and South Alabama make up the other matchup in the Auburn Regional, with their game slated for Friday at 3 p.m. CT.

Tech is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2007, earning the Ohio Valley Conference's automatic bid after capturing the OVC Tournament championship with a 3-2 win over SIUE, Saturday evening in the tourney finale.

Auburn comes into the Regional as the SEC Tournament champion after defeating the University of Tennessee, 6-5 in extra innings in the championship game, Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La.
