the GOLDEN EAGLE FOOTBALL CAMP
NOTEBOOK
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A new season in Tennessee Tech football
will officially get underway this weekend when veteran head coach
Watson Brown and his staff welcome 95 players to campus to open
Fall Camp. Players report Friday and activities on the field begin
Saturday with the team's annual Photo Day, which is open to the
public.
Photo Day kicks off at 10 a.m. in Tucker Stadium, and fans,
friends, families and alumni are invited to join the Tech
photographers and members of the media who will scatter across
Overall Field to shoot photos, interview players and coaches, and
begin preparations for what promises to be an exciting 2014
season.
Players report Friday and begin practices Saturday afternoon. The
first full padded practice is on Wednesday (Aug. 6) and the
team’s first scrimmage is Saturday (Aug. 9) at 4 p.m. Tech
will host a second scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 16, as part of the
annual Gathering of Eagles and Women's Clinic.
Tech will go through three weeks of camp workouts, then turn its
attention toward the season opener during the final week of August.
Tech opens the schedule Thursday, Aug. 28, with a 7 p.m. contest
against Kentucky Christian University in Tucker Stadium.
The night will feature several special activities, including the
second annual "Running of the Freshmen" in which the entire
incoming freshman class is invited to join Tech president Phil
Oldham in leading the team onto the field.
The team will meet Friday afternoon for its annual compliance
meeting, and receive equipment and physicals after dinner. On
Saturday, the team will be on the field for Photo Day at 10 a.m.
beginning with the official team photo. Individual and group photos
will follow, and specialty pictures will wrap up the session, which
is open to the public.
Fans attending Photo Day are encouraged to mingle with the players
and coaches, visit and take photos.
Following the on-field Photo Day session, Brown members of the
team and staff will meet with members of the media at a Media
Luncheon in Eblen Center at noon.
"I'm impressed with the attitude of our players," Brown said. "They have done a really nice job working out this summer and they’re excited about getting camp underway. They are in tremendous shape coming into camp. I'm really impressed with our physical shape.”
