COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Coming off of a winning weekend at Tennessee State, the Tennessee Tech softball team heads to Jacksonville State to finish out the regular-season series with the Gamecocks on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles (11-18, 5-6 OVC) won two of three last weekend against the Tigers in Nashville behind strong outings by senior pitcher Holly Thomas. On Saturday, Thomas struck out eight batters and allowed just four hits and three runs. She topped that performance on Sunday as she hurled a one-hitter with no walks, picking up her second shutout of the year.

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks (15-17, 9-2 OVC) enter the contest winning six of their last eight games. Thursday's matchup will mark the end of a six-game homestand for JSU, which split a doubleheader with Middle Tennessee on Tuesday. The Gamecocks are being led by freshman Shelby Holley who leads the Ohio Valley Conference in six offensive categories including home runs (14) and on-base percentage (.512).

Jacksonville State won both games at Tech last Wednesday by scores of 6-0 and 5-1. The Golden Eagles will return home for a three-game series against Southeast Missouri, beginning Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is free at the Tech Softball Field.
