FORT BENNING, Ga. - Austin Litherland shot 569 in the Small Bore competition and Chase Cortner shot the same score in the Air Rifle competition, but the Tennessee Tech rifle team fell by a total score of 4,559-4,489 against Columbus State at the US Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Ga.
Patrick Stidham shot 546 in the Small Bore and 568 in the Air Rifle and John Zimmerer shot 551 in both competitions. Curtis Gagne shot 552 in the Small Bore and Jessica McCauley shot 566 in Air Rifle.
Columbus State topped Tech 2,239-2,218 in the Small Bore, and 2,320-2,271 in the Air Rifle.
The Golden Eagles will shoot again on Saturday when Jacksonville State visits Cookeville.
