Anderson wins adidas® OVC Setter of the Week honors on Aug. 29

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—After a stellar opening weekend, including two double-doubles and three 40+ assist matches: Sharon Anderson has been selected as the adidas® OVC Setter of the Week on Aug. 29. 

In Tech's season opener versus Charleston Southern, the senior setter from Burr Ridge, Ill., picked up exactly where she left off at the end of the 2015-year; tallying 40 assists and nine digs in the match. On day two of the tournament, Anderson started off the day on a high note leading the Golden Eagles in assists (53) and digs (22), and posting her first double-double of the season. She continued to play strong later in the day when she grabbed 48 assists and 11 digs versus tournament host Western Carolina for her second double-double of the season. 

On the weekend, Anderson notched 141 assists (11.75 per set), 42 digs (3.50 per set), and 3 blocks (0.25 per set). She led all Golden Eagles in assists, while ranking second in digs, and leading her hitters to a .220 attack percentage on the weekend.


adidas® 2016 OVC Players of the Week - Aug. 29

Offensive:

Scottie Ingram, OH, 5-10, Sr., Solsberry, Ind. - Murray State

Ingram was named the MVP of the Fort Wayne Invitational last week after leading the Racers with 74 kills over the three matches. She recorded at least 22 kills in each match. In the comeback win over Ball State, Ingram tallied a new career-high with 30 kills and also hit .309. She also averaged 2.70 digs per set and recorded three double-doubles on the weekend as the Racers went 3-0.

Ellie Lorenz, L, 5-4, Sr., St. Louis, Mo. - Murray State

Lorenz earned all-tournament team honors at the Fort Wayne Invite after she paced the Racers in digs in all three matches. She opened the tourney with 22 in the win over Fort Wayne and followed that up with 30 versus Ball State and 19 against Youngstown State.

Anderson led the Golden Eagles in assists in all three matches. She tallied 141 assists while also recording 42 digs on the weekend. She recorded double-doubles in two of the three matches. She lead the team with 53 assists and 22 digs versus UAB and followed that with 48 assists and 11 digs against Western Carolina.

Giustino was named to the all-tournament team at the Fort Wayne Invitational last week. In the win over Fort Wayne, she tallied 15 kills and hit a match-high .452.  Against Ball State, she had 14 kills and hit .375. She closed out the tourney with 20 kills versus Youngstown State.
