Golden Eagles face Murray State in tough OVC match

MURRAY, Kent. – Despite some initial success in the first set, the Golden Eagles were not able to keep up with the Racers, as Murray State took the 3-0 decision.

The opening frame saw some close play early on as Murray State held a one-point lead a 15-14. The Golden Eagles made the Racers work hard for every point the rest of the way, as Murray State's Cassy Woolverton tallied three kills down the stretch, to help the Racers take the first set 25-20.

The final two sets of the match saw the Racers jump out to early leads that they would not relinquish as they won the second and third sets by the scores of 25-15 and 25-10.

Junior Kelsey Gray and freshman Ellen Conti paced the Golden Eagle offense with six kills each, with sophomore Elise Robertson following close behind with five. Junior Madison Comperry dished out nine assists, while Robertson and freshman Courtney Smith notched eight digs each.
