Golden Eagles to host Redhawks, Racers this weekend

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Following a well-played match against UT Martin, the Tennessee Tech volleyball team will look to take advantage of the home court this weekend as it hosts Southeast Missouri Friday, at 7 p.m., and Murray State Saturday, at 2 p.m.

The Golden Eagles currently have three players with at least 165 kills, including sophomore Natalie Penrod, who leads the team with 196. Junior Kelsey Gray, who has tallied 165 kills, leads the team in total blocks with 64.

Southeast Missouri enters the weekend holding fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with a 9-13 overall record, and a 7-4 conference record. In their previous meeting this season, SEMO defeated TTU 3-1 and currently leads the all-time series 34-9. Brittney Kalinoski leads the Redhawk offense with 224 kills, while Julie Shives leads the team in assists with 781.

Friday’s match against SEMO is also Dig Pink night. Fans are invited to join in by wearing pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

Murray State sits in sixth place in the OVC standings with a 5-17 record, and a 5-6 OVC record. The Racers currently leads the all-time series against Tech with a 28-25 mark, including a 3-0 victory earlier this season. Teresa Krog leads the Racers offense with 273 kills, while Kayleah Sauer leads the Racers on defense with 343 digs.
