Golden Eagle record-setter Sarah Brandt named OVC co-Runner of the Week


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- For the second time in three weeks, the Ohio Valley Conference has recognized a member of the Tennessee Tech track & field team as the league's adidas® Female co-Runner of the Week.

Golden Eagle middle distance specialist Sarah Brandt, a junior from Oroville, Calif., was selected on the strength of her outstanding performance over the weekend at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. Brandt set the school reccord while posting the fastest time this year in the OVC over 800 meters, covering the distance in 2:11.00. She was also part of two Tech relay teams that broke school records, posting times that also rank among the best in the OVC in the 4x400m and distance medley relay.

Three weeks ago, freshman Na'Asha Robinson received the same honor from the conference.

Brandt, Robinson and the rest of coach Wayne Angel's team will be in Nashville Friday and Saturday to compete in the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt.

Co-MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Riley McInerney, Jr., Charleston, Ill. – Eastern Illinois
McInerney posted a 3,000-meter time of 8:16.94 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite. The mark ranks first in the OVC this season and is currently ninth all-time in EIU history.
 
Jarred Pasley, So., St. Louis, Mo. – Southeast Missouri
Pasley earned three top 10 finishes at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational last week. He placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.52. The mark is first in the OVC this season and currently ranks 52nd in the nation. He also took ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.89 which ranks fourth in the league this year. Pasley was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed seventh with a time of 3:12.71. That currently ranks first in the OVC this year.

Co-FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Hannah Wittman, Sr., Lindenhurst, Ill. – Belmont
Wittman took second out of 50 competitors in the 5,000-meters at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational. Her time of 16:45.05 is the best in the OVC this year and is 29th in the nation.
 
Sarah Brandt, Jr., Oroville, Calif. – Tennessee Tech
Brandt posted the fastest 800-meter time in the OVC this year at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational with a 2:11.0. She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that posted the second-fastest time in the league this year with a 3:48.29. She was also part of the distance medley relay team that broke a school record, running the event in 12:07.22.

MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Julian Harvey, Jr., Edwardsville, Ill. – SIUE
Harvey took first in the long jump at the SIUE Don DeNoon Invite. His leap of 24’11.75” is a personal best and ranks first in the OVC this year. The mark is also 18th in the nation.

FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Claire Nolan, Jr., Taylorville, Iowa – SIUE
Nolan took sixth out of 31 competitors in the shot put at the Don DeNoon Invitational. Her mark of 46’04” is a personal record and ranks third in the OVC.
