JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Senior Katie Lowery tied her own school
record in the pole vault and three personal best marks were
established by the Tennessee Tech women's track and field team
Friday and Saturday at the ETSU Invitational.
Lowery topped the bar at 10 feet, matching the school record she
set in 2010 and tied earlier this year. She placed 13th in the
event.
Another jumper tied her personal best when Erin Keyes cleared the
bar at 5 feet, one-quarter inch in the high jump. she placed ninth
in the meet.
On Saturday, two Golden Eagle distance runners posted personal
best efforts in the 5,000-meter run. Rebecca Cline finihsed third
in the time of 19:20.22, while Beth Miller placed seventh with a PR
of 19:36.93. Tech had a solid showing in the event, the longest
race of the weekend. In addition to Cline and Miller, Meghan
O'Donoghue placed 15th in 20:41.70, Amelia McCoy was 22nd in
21:19.68, and Peri Winborne finished 23rd in 21:24.89.
Tech also got a strong finish in the men's 5,000-meter run as
Matthew Bishop place fifth with a time of 15:57.60. He was the lone
member of the Golden Eagle men's cross country team to compete at
ETSU.
Tech had three entries in the shot put. Madison Borden led the
group, finishing 26th with a toss of 34 feet, nine inches. Lacy
Yslas was 27th at 34 feet, 8.5 inches, and Margarett Holder placed
33rd with a toss of 31 feet, 6.5 inches.
Sophomore Landy Loving posted Tech's best time of the season in
the 800-meter run, finishing 30th with a time of 2:33.85.
Tech's next event is the University of the South Invitational, Feb.
