CHARLESTON, Ill. – Makayli Harris and Abby Shoulders four of Tech's six runs for Tennessee Tech on Friday as the Golden Eagles fell to Boston and Canisius on the first day of the College of Charleston Cougar Classic.

The Terriers won 10-2 in five innings, while the Golden Griffins were victorious 12-4 in five.

The Golden Eagles (0-4) will face Canisius again on Saturday morning at 11 a.m., then face tournament host College of Charleston at 4:30 p.m.

Shoulders, the Middle Tennessee transfer from Lafayette, went 2-for-3 against Canisius, while Harris had the other Tech hit in the contest.

Tech plated three against the Golden Griffins in the second inning as Savannah Talley was hit by a pitch and Ella Bishop drew a walk. Harris brought them home on a double to right center, then came across the plate herself on a Shoulders single – stretched into an extra base on a fielding error in center field.

After the Golden Eagles were tagged for seven runs in the second and third innings, Shoulders drove in Bishop with a double to left center.

Kaylan Cole fell to 0-2 on the season as she allowed seven runs – five earned – on five hits as she walked five and struck out one across three frames. Gracelyn Woollen allowed five runs on six hits, walking two in her inning and a third.

In the day's first game, Callie Piper made her first start of the season, but Boston tacked on four runs in the bottom of the first. Piper allowed six runs – five earned – on six hits in two innings of work, walking three. Avery Flatford allowed three runs on two hits with three walks and a strikeout in an inning and a third, while Woollen was the most effective against the Terriers, yielding one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Haeli Bryson, Abby Buettner, Jordan Key and Bishop each recorded hits in the contest.

Tech scored single runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings as Buettner drove in Bryson on a single through the left side, then a fielding error off Nicolle Nysted's bat allowed Bishop to score a frame later.
