MOREHEAD, Ky. – It was a tough go for the Tennessee Tech volleyball team in its road tilt at Morehead State Tuesday evening, as the Golden Eagles fell to their Ohio Valley Conference rivals 3-0 at Johnson Arena.

The purple and gold seemed on its way to a win in set one, taking a 20-18 lead before Morehead called for a timeout. The Eagles responded out of the break with a 7-0 run to win the first set 25-20.

Tech struggled to get the offense going from that point on, moving from 11 kills in the opening game to eight in each of the second and third sets. Morehead State took advantage of the Golden Eagle challenges, tallying 19, 15, and 15 terminations for the night.

The Eagles bested Tech 25-15 in the second set and followed it up with a 25-14 victory.

Freshman right side Ava Schubert led the Cookeville crew with seven kills in the match, tallying three digs and a block as well. Junior outside hitter Bella Powell added six terminations and a solo rejection to the table.

Sophomore setter Jordan Karlen paced the Golden Eagles with 23 assists and just missed a double-double with nine digs. Libero McKenna Young produced 10 digs and a team-high two aces while outside hitter Madolyn Isringhausen delivered a team-high 11 digs with four kills and three blocks.

The Golden Eagles will now make their way to Edwardsville, Ill. for two tilts at SIUE, wrapping up their three-match road swing. The weekend includes a 5:00 p.m. CT affair on Friday, Oct. 13 and 2:00 p.m. match-up on Saturday, Oct. 14.
