BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Following Tennessee Tech's strong showing against then OVC leader Morehead State and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, the Golden Eagles' Ashley Hand has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Week.
The sophomore from Greenwood Village, Colo., directed an offense that hit .273 over a pair of road matches against then conference-leader Morehead State as well as completing a season sweep over Eastern Kentucky. She opened the weekend with a stellar performance, leading the Golden Eagles to a .236 hitting clip, while dishing out 46 assists and collecting 10 digs, marking her 13th double-double of the season. Hand then closed the weekend with another top-notch performance in the Golden Eagles straight-set victory over Eastern Kentucky, helping Tech to a .310 hitting performance as she dished out a match-high 41 assists, narrowly missed another double-double with nine digs, and knocking down three kills.
In addition to distributing the ball around to Tech's prolific hitters, Hand also recorded five kills of her own, hitting .243, and providing additional offense with three blocks and a service ace in the pair of contests.
The honor marked the first of the season for the Golden Eagles and the first weekly honor of Hand's career. Hand also surpassed the 1,000 career assist mark during the Golden Eagles victory over Eastern Kentucky.
The Golden Eagles will close out their regular season schedule this weekend as they host Tennessee State on Friday, November 15 before hosting Belmont on Saturday, November 16 for Senior Day.
