Wickham named OVC Track Athlete of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Senior sprinter Lisa Wickham has been named Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking performance at the Blazer Invitational, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago native shattered the school record in the 60-meter dash with a blazing 7.32 seconds. Wickham surpassed the previous school record mark (7.40 seconds) by eight-tenths of a second. She opened the meet by running a 7.34 during the Blazer Invitational prelims, before running her personal-best 7.32 seconds.

The honor marks the third of her career and the first for the Golden Eagles this season. It also marks the first time that Wickham has been honored as the sole Female Track Athlete of the Week, having previously been recognized with a pair of Co-Female Athlete of the Week honors. The last OVC weekly honors for Tennessee Tech came on April 24 as Purity Sanga was named Female Track Athlete of the Week and Khemani Roberts was named Female Field Athlete of the Week.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Jan. 31 – Feb. 1 as they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. for the Buccaneer Invite, hosted by East Tennessee State. The meet will begin on Friday with. The weight throw at 8:45 a.m. ET, followed by the track events beginning at 10:15 a.m.
