COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the Tennessee Tech softball team wrapped up the home portion of the 2024 campaign, the Golden Eagles honored their senior student-athletes who have devoted countless hours on the field and in the classroom representing the Purple and Gold.
It was a celebration of the success the program had this season with still much more to go as Tech has clinched a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference softball championships with a weekend still to play, giving the Golden Eagles a chance to raise their standing in the race.
Sunday’s series finale against SIUE was a close battle until the sixth inning with the Cougars scoring five runs. Tech answered with four in the home half of the frame and had a chance to even the game in the bottom of the seventh, but SIUE evaded the sweep with a 7-5 victory in the finale.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With two victories on Saturday to take both ends of the doubleheader against SIUE, the Tennessee Tech softball team is assured of one thing – the Golden Eagles will be heading back to postseason action in the Ohio Valley Conference softball championships in Peoria.
With the two wins and now four games up on the Cougars and six on Morehead State, Tech (21-21, 11-12 OVC) is assured of at least the No. 7-seed with a chance to move up further with wins in their last four games of the season and help from fellow OVC teams in the final three days of conference competition.

Talley will be recognized for their efforts in the Purple and Gold.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After taking a 2-0 lead, the Tennessee Tech softball team saw host Austin Peay score five runs in its final three frames to take a 5-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (19-21) return to action on Saturday and Sunday as they take on SIUE in Tech’s final home series of the season.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Sydney Kirby had a big day in the finale as she drove in four of Tennessee Tech’s seven runs on Sunday as the Golden Eagles put together a strong offensive effort in the finale to take a 7-1 victory over Eastern Illinois.
Kirby ended the game 2-for-3, while Mac Fitzgerald also had a multi-hit game with an RBI and Carmen Betts drove in two.
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois used one big inning in game one and a close margin in game two to take both games in the doubleheader on Saturday against Tennessee Tech, beating the Golden Eagles 9-5 in the opener and 2-1 in the back end.
The Golden Eagles (18-20, 8-12 Ohio Valley Conference) conclude the series on Sunday with a 12 p.m. start time. With the losses, Tech maintains its possession of the No. 7 spot in the OVC race with UT Martin two games up at 10-10 and SIUE one game back at 7-13 with seven games remaining in the league slate.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When Tennessee Tech Softball welcomes UT Martin on April 13-14, it will be a cause of celebration as the Golden Eagle Softball team will recognize the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Ohio Valley Conference championship team between games as part of the Wings Up Weekend festivities on Saturday, April 13.
The 1994 Golden Eagle squad earned the inaugural OVC championship, going an unblemished 17-0 in the conference – a feat that has only been matched by the 2016 Jacksonville State team.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Last season, Southeast Missouri cruised to a 20-2 finish in the Ohio Valley Conference softball race. While the start of the 2024 conference campaign has seen the Redhawks a little more level in the race thus far, SEMO is still a very dangerous opponent – after all, historically, Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri have been among the top programs since the league first sponsored softball.
The Redhawks (13-20) and the Golden Eagles (15-14) will square off Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m., while the third game will be Sunday at noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With as outstanding of a season that Tennessee Tech third baseman Carmen Betts has had, it’s only fitting that she was honored Monday by the Ohio Valley Conference as she shared the league’s Player of the Week award.
As the final votes were tabulated, Betts was tied with Morehead State’s Sela Pickford for the honor. The OVC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are nominated and voted on by the conference’s sports information contacts.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After Lindenwood scored eight runs in the second inning, Tennessee Tech battled back, forcing extra innings as Emily York pitched a gem to keep the Golden Eagles alive.
But the visiting Lions took the lead in the top of the eighth inning and Tech couldn’t get the hit it needed to keep the game going, falling 9-8 in eight innings.
The Golden Eagles fall to 15-14 overall, 6-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while Lindenwood improves to 17-16, 6-6 in league play.

Carmen Betts, Abby Buettner and Sydney Kirby all went yard in the contest, with Buettner going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and Kirby going 2-for-3 and driving in two.
