COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team continued its torrid pace of late, as the Golden Eagles secured a 5-2 victory over Jacksonville State for their sixth-straight win Saturday afternoon at Tech Tennis Courts.

Tech's triumph keeps the Golden Eagles undefeated in OVC action and pushes the purple and gold into sole possession of first place with two conference clashes remaining in the regular season. Jacksonville State (8-5, 2-1 OVC) suffered its first OVC defeat in the final regular-season meeting against Tech as members of the same conference.

TTU (6-5, 3-0 OVC) fought back after an early setback that saw the purple and gold drop the doubles point with losses in two of the three matchups. JSU's top-tandem of Aljaz Kaplja and Thomas Norwood knocked off Tech's top-duo of Evzen Holis and Jun Sasagawa, 7-6, while Joaquin Vallejo and Maj Tomac picked up a 6-3 win over Andre Rodeia and Elias Grubert in the No. 3 position to help give the Gamecocks a 1-0 edge in the match.

Carlos Vicente and Rafael Tosetto notched a 6-4 victory against Guillermo Agost and Jordi Blanchar out of the No. 2 slot to salvage a nod in doubles action.

The Golden Eagles turned it on during singles play to the tune of wins in five-of-six clashes, all in straight sets. Vicente claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win in over Vallejo in the No. 1 get-together to help set the tone at the top of the TTU lineup. Elias Grubert powered past Guillermo Agost with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 affair, while Rafael Tosetto put together Tech's best solo showing with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph against Thomas Norwood in the No. 5 matchup.

The Golden Eagles received contributions at the bottom of the singles lineup behind an Andre Rodeia 6-1, 6-3 nod over Aljaz Kaplja in the No. 5 meeting and a Mika Berghaus 7-6, 6-2 win against Jordi Blanchar in the No. 6 slot.

Maj Tomac collected JSU's lone singles point with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Evzen Holis in the No. 2 position.

TTU will jump right back into it with a Sunday, Apr. 4 home contest against UAB. The non-conference clash is set to get underway at 1 p.m. CT from Tech Tennis Courts.
