COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After playing a pivotal role in leading the Tennessee Tech tennis team to its first win of the season, Evzen Holis was recognized as the co-OVC Male Tennis Player of the Week Wednesday afternoon.

Holis, who took home the honor along with Belmont's Marko Illic, earned wins in singles and doubles action as part of a Golden Eagle 4-3 triumph at Kennesaw State on Sunday. The Brno, Czech Republic native secured a straight-set, 6-4, 6-4 win over Raul Garcia in the No. 3 singles matchup with the Owls and Holis teamed up with Jun Sasagawa to notch a 7-5 nod against Sergio Ingles and Seru Tezuka in the No. 1 doubles battle.

The weekly award marks the second in the career of Holis after picking up the accolade on Feb. 26, 2020 following a strong weekend in Tallahassee, Fla. against Florida State and Buffalo.

Fresh off their first win of the spring, Holis and the rest of the Golden Eagles will make their home opener on Thursday against Radford at 1 p.m. CT before concluding the week with a Friday match at Lipscomb, also at 1 p.m.
