BOWLING GREEN, Fla. – Round one of the 2023-24 campaign is officially in the books for the Tennessee Tech men's golf team, as the Golden Eagles completed the first 18 holes of action at the Allstate Streamsong Invitational Monday afternoon.
The purple and gold wrapped up the day 11th overall after securing a 6-over 298 on the par-3 Streamsong Black Course at Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla. Host Lipscomb led the way, besting Kennesaw State by one stroke for first place with a 276. The Bisons' Sam Potter and Owls' Shaun Cook shared the individual lead after rounds of 66.
Juniors Jackson Skeen and Alexander Bassel paced the Tech effort on Monday, each wrapping up the day with scores of 1-over 74 to tie for 38th. Following a record-breaking 2022-23 season, Skeen captured two birdies and 13 pars for his first round. Bassel turned in three birdies to go along with 11 pars.
It was a trio of Golden Eagles tying for 48th after carding rounds of 2-over 75, including sophomores Anders Larson and Haden Maxwell and senior Sean Anderson. After delivering a sensational rookie campaign, Larson racked up three birdies in his first action of the new campaign.
Maxwell, who also put together a very strong first season in the purple and gold, concluded the day with two birdies and 12 pars. Anderson tied for the team lead with three of his own birdies.
The second round of the Allstate Streamsong Invitational will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT for the Golden Eagles as part of a shotgun start.
