BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball guard Grant Strong was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week Monday morning after helping the Golden Eagles pick up their first victory of the 2022-23 campaign, one in which the program is celebrating its 100th Anniversary.
The local Celina native averaged 5.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in a pair of tilts during the week, shooting 33.3 percent from distance while picking up a pair of steals. The rookie made his collegiate debut at No. 11 Tennessee last Monday, hauling in a pair of rebounds in 10 minutes of action off the bench.
In his home debut, the young guard turned in 11 points, five assists, and two more rebounds in an 82-48 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan. Strong buried a pair of triples and picked up another steal while playing 22 minutes off the bench.
Tech hits the road once again, visiting Huntington, W.Va. for a Monday evening affair with Marshall. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. for the Herd Run Hoops Jam presented by Tarkett Sports contest.
