BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Nick Madonia played his part in Tennessee Tech's 28-13 effort at Ball State on Saturday, and his day was recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference's football contacts as Madonia split the OVC Specialist of the Week award when it was announced on Sunday.

Madonia was 2-for-2 on field goals and connected on his PAT try in the contest, but his punting duties also came through on Saturday as he averaged 46 yards on four punts. He had a 58-yard punt in the contest and pinned the Cardinals inside the 20 twice.

Madonia, a junior from Arrington, Tenn., is currently eighth in the nation in punting, averaging 44.7 yards per punt.

Madonia split the award with Tennessee State's Lane Clark, who kicked a 49-yard field goal in his only try and was 3-for-3 on point-after tries.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday as they open OVC play against Eastern Kentucky, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. Central.
