WEEK 2 NOTES – at Kennesaw State (PDF)

KENNESAW, Ga. – After a tough outing last week against Western Illinois, the Tennessee Tech football team will hit the road for the next three weeks, opening the trip with a jaunt down into Georgia as the Golden Eagles will be on the prowl for Owls as they take on Kennesaw State.

KSU's football program is a relatively new one, only in its third season of existence, but don't let that fool you – these Owls have fared pretty well.

Coached by Brian Bohannon, who was previously the quarterbacks and B-backs coach for Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech, the Owls have amassed a 14-9 all-time record.

Kennesaw State is coming off of a tough 28-23 loss to FCS No. 19 Samford last week, where the Owls rolled up 545 yards of total offense – the seventh time the team has done that in their last 12 games and fifth out of last six.

It is the first meeting between these two teams.

Head coach Marcus Satterfield held his weekly press conference with the Tech media on Tuesday. Here's what he had to say about the matchup:

The Golden Eagles (0-1), meanwhile, are coming off of a 41-14 loss to FCS No. 25 Western Illinois. Redshirt freshman quarterback Andre Sale had a solid outing against the Leathernecks and will look to improve his numbers this week if he gets the call to start.

Defensively for Tech, the story last week was senior linebacker Elliott Normand. A nominee for the HERO Sports FCS Football Defensive Hero of the Week, Normand recorded 18 tackles in the contest, five shy of Jim Youngblood's school record of 23 set against UT Martin during Tech's OVC championship and Grantland Rice Bowl run in 1972.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central time. Roger Ealey and Dylan Vazzano will provide broadcast coverage for the Golden Eagle Sports Network on KISS FM 98.5.
