LUBBOCK, Texas – After dominating through the first 10 weeks of the 2024 campaign, Tennessee Tech ace Peyton Calitri has been named to the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Watch List, as announced by the organization Thursday. The senior joined a group of 53 other pitchers around Division I baseball recognized on the list.

A leading candidate to take home the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year honor, Calitri has been special for a Golden Eagle squad currently tied for first in the league standings. The veteran hurler has been a key component to that success, accumulating a perfect 7-0 record with a minuscule 1.85 ERA, 69 strikeouts, and an 0.91 WHIP over 68.0 innings of work in 10 starts.

The Collierville, Tenn. native ranks among the nation's leaders in a number of pitching categories on the year, including third in both strikeout/walk ratio (11.50) and walks/nine innings (0.79). Heading into this weekend's series at UT Martin, Calitri is tied for sixth nationally in wins (seven), ranked eighth in ERA (1.85), and listed 11th in WHIP (0.91).

In the OVC, the right-hander paces all qualified pitchers in ERA, opposing batting average (.216), innings pitched, wins, and walks allowed, and ranks second in strikeouts. Calitri has twice been named the league's Pitcher of the Week, including after an impressive victory over Morehead State.

Against the league's top offense, the senior scattered three hits and a walk to complete eight shutout innings with 10 strikeouts in a 15-0 laugher back on Apr. 6. On the year, Calitri has delivered an impressive nine quality starts in his 10 outings, tossing at least 6.0 innings and allowing two or fewer total runs in each. He has punched out six or more batters seven times on the year as well.

The award will be presented later this year by the College Baseball Foundation. For more information on the Pitcher of the Year Award, visit the College Baseball Foundation website at www.collegebaseballhall.org.
