BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech junior Tanner Shiver was recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career as announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Shiver played hero for the Golden Eagles twice over the weekend while also leading the Tech offense in four victories, ending the four-game stretch with a .471 average, .550 on-base percentage, and 1.118 slugging percentage. Playing both third base and right field, the Maryville, Tenn. native racked up eight hits in 17 at-bats, as well as six runs, a triple, three home runs, eight RBI, and a stolen base.

The junior smashed his first long ball of the year as part of a 2-for-4 day against Alabama A&M in a driving rain and eventual 20-9 win in seven innings. He turned in a 2-for-2 day with two jacks and three runs scored in the series opener with Queens.

In game two, he gave Tech the early lead with a three-run triple and provided the walk-off base knock in the bottom of the 10th. He followed it up with another walk-off hit on Sunday, an RBI single to center field in the ninth.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road for just the second time this season, visiting USC Upstate for a pair of midweek tilts in Spartanburg, S.C. The two sides will square off at 3:00 p.m. CT Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday with another 3:00 p.m. start.
