BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in her career, Tennessee Tech women's cross country runner Ruby Wyles took home weekly honors from the Ohio Valley Conference, named the OVC's Co-Female Runner of the Week Tuesday afternoon. She shared the recognition with Southern Indiana's Lauren Greiwe.

Earning her second medalist honor of the season, Wyles literally ran away with the top spot for team scoring with a huge personal record in the 5K with a time of 17:22.5. It marked the fifth-fastest 5K in program history and bested her previous PR by more than 22 seconds.

For Wyles, the win represented her second of the 2022 campaign, backing up her victory at the Golden Eagle Invitational on Sept. 16. The medalist honor came on the same course that will host the OVC Championships Oct. 29, a 6K challenge at the Putnam County Sports Complex.

Wyles represents Tech's first winner of the OVC's Female Runner of the Week honor since Purity Sanga captured the award five times in 2018.

The Golden Eagles will compete next at the OVC Championships in Cookeville, hosting the league's annual event on Oct. 29. The women's 6K will take place at 10:00 a.m. CT while the men's 8K will follow at approximately 11:00 a.m.
