High School: Thompkins comes to Tech from Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, where she was a middle and right side for four seasons under head coach Ted Russell… helped the Wolves to a Class AA state championship title in her freshman year and a Class A state regional title as a senior… compiled 481 kills and 182 blocks through three seasons of play (sat out her sophomore year with a knee injury)… played in the 2016 Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association senior all-star game… named to the 2016 Under Armour All-American watch list… also earned two letters in basketball for Jan Azar.
Personal: Majoring in general health studies with a concentration in general pre-nursing… named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in fall 2017… father, Howard Thompkins, Jr., was taken by the Atlanta Hawks in the ninth round of the 1981 NBA Draft… had enjoyed an outstanding collegiate basketball career, spending one year at Northeastern and transferring to Wagner for his remaining three years… took the Seahawks to the 1979 NIT as a sophomore… was inducted into the Wagner College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003… older brother, Howard “Trey” Thompkins III, played basketball at Georgia from 2008-11 and was a two-time All-SEC first-team selection… was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers and now plays for Real Madrid Baloncesto in Spain… Real Madrid won the EuroLeague championship in May 2018.
