TTU soccer announces the signing of Nora Vicsek to 2016 roster

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the start of the 2016 campaign within striking distance, the Tennessee Tech soccer team and head coach Steve Springthorpe adds another piece to the Golden Eagle puzzle with the signing of Nora Vicsek, an incoming attacking player out of Budapest, Hungary.

Vicsek joins an already promising purple and gold newcomer mix that saw six incoming freshmen sign their way into the program during the initial signing period back in early February, before Barcelona native Julia Rebello entered the fold at the beginning of June.

"We are excited that Nora has decided to join our team this upcoming season," Tech head coach Steve Springthorpe said on the newest Golden Eagle. "Nora has been playing competitive high-level soccer for many years in Hungary, including her time with the youth national team program. She will bring a wealth of playing experience to our team."

Vicsek comes to Cookeville equipped with a stout soccer resume that was developed throughout her time playing overseas, suiting up in both the club circuit in Hungary as well as the youth national team program. The Budapest native served as captain for both the U-19 and U-17 club team MTK Budapest FC, helping pace the squad to a national championship in each level.

On the national stage, Vicsek was a member of both the National U-19 Women's Team in Hungary as well as the National U-17 Girls' Team, playing right and left wing while proving to be a dynamic goal scorer.

"I expect Nora to make an immediate impact as an attacking player either as an attacking midfielder of as a forward," Springthorpe claimed. "She has a really high IQ level as a player as well as the technical ability to match it. We are looking forward to her arrival in early August."

The Golden Eagles are coming off a historical 2015 campaign that saw the team capture its most conference wins in one season in school history, a second place OVC finish, the highest in 15 years, a regular season winning record for the first time in over a decade, and the first postseason appearance in six years, culminating in a trip to the OVC Tournament semifinals.
