Tech women's golf team to open 2013-14 season at Drake Creek Invitational

LEDBETTER, Ky. – After a long wait over the summer, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team will get back to action this week as the Golden Eagles travel to Ledbetter, Ky. for the fifth annual Drake Creek Invitational hosted by Murray State.

The 54-hole tournament will take place Sept. 9-10 at the Drake Creek Golf Course. A shotgun start will kick off both mornings with 36 holes of stroke play Monday and 18 holes to finish the tournament Tuesday. Included in the tournament are five other members of the Ohio Valley Conference as well as a regional team.

Here's an alphabetical look at the participating squads:

"To start the season off at Drake Creek, a course that has hosted our OVC Championship, will be an awesome way to start the season for the ladies," said head coach Polk Brown. "Murray State is an OVC contender each year and anytime we get the chance to play in events with them, we look forward to the opportunity. Our girls are very excited to get started, and we are looking forward to competing."

Tech's top five will feature two true freshmen, one redshirt sophomore and two other sophomores.
