MARTIN, Tenn. – UT Martin struck for six runs in the fourth inning and it was all the Skyhawks needed to take the first win of the three-game series on Saturday, topping the Tennessee Tech squad 8-4 and snapping the Golden Eagles' eight-game winning streak.
Haeli Bryson was the only Tech player to get multiple hits in the contest, driving in two of the team's four runs on a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
UTM pitcher Alexis Groet claimed the victory, holding Tech to six hits in the contest. Groet improved to 7-3 on the season, walking and striking out four each.
Savannah Talley also went yard for the Golden Eagles in the contest, driving in Tech's first run with a home run to left field in the third inning. Sydney Love-Baker also had an RBI single in the frame to drive in Shelby Penning to make it a 2-0 Golden Eagle lead.
Katie Dreiling tied the game with a home run to straight-away center, bringing Paige Clark home to score on the play.
