COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Rebecca Cline was named Most Valuable on the women’s team and John Greene captured the same honor for the men’s team when Tennessee Tech cross country coach Tony Cox announced the team awards for the 2013 season.

In addition to the MVP awards, Cox presented several other awards to his runners at the team’s annual Awards Dinner held recently. The honors went to six different people, while Greene and Peri Winborne were announced as team captains.

“Rebecca led our team in every meet this year and she’s been a valuable member of the team for the last four years,” Cox said about Cline’s MVP selection. “She led by example in daily practices and at the meets, and is highly deserving of this award.”

Meaghan O’Donoghue, a senior from Talbott, Tenn., won the Most Dedicated Runner award, while Yeshi Dohrmann accepted the Most Improved Runner award. She is a senior from Tullahoma, Tenn. The Impact Award, which goes to a first-year runner with the greatest impact on the team, went to Claire Cashin, a freshman from Snellville, Ga..

Winborne, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., served as the team captain for the 2013 campaign.

Greene, a fifth-year senior from Friendsville, Tenn., claimed the MVP honor for the men’s squad in addition to his captain role. 

“John has been a team leader for the past couple of years,” Cox said. “He’s a vocal leader and very respected by the other guys on the team. He overcame injury that kept him out all of last year, and he was still around the team a lot during that time providing leadership, even when he was having to sit out.”

The Most Dedicated Runner award went to Matt Bishop, a senior from Morristown, Tenn. Daniel Williamson, a freshman from Union City, Tenn., won the Most Improved Runner award, while the Impact Award went to freshman Eric Roth from Gray, Tenn.
