COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech’s cross country teams
are set to kick off the 2010 campaign Saturday when they run in the
Sewanee Invitational. The meet is scheduled to get under way at 10
a.m., with the women’s 5K run, followed by the men’s 8K
at 11 a.m.
Last season the Tech women’s squad posted a sixth place
finish at Sewanee, while the Golden Eagle women placed fifth.
For the Tech men’s team, senior Sam Taylor returns to lead
the squad into action. Taylor placed first on the team in nearly
every meet last season. Also among those returning are
sophomore Chris Bishop, who posted several strong second- and
third-place finishes last season, and senior Joseph DeLorenzo, who
placed third on the team at Sewanee last season.
The new faces on the squad this year are Kolbe Andrzejewski,
Matthew Bishop, Drew DeLorenzo, Tyler Eads, Michael Mahan and
Nathan Snow
On the women’s squad, veterans Tiffany Palmer and Amanda
Simmons are gone, but junior Traci Jones and sophomore Kathryn
Forbes look to lead the team. Jones finished second on the team in
every race last season, while Forbes placed a respectable fourth in
nearly every race. The fresh faces represented on the team
are Leah Bradley, Brittany Brown, Rebecca Cline, Yeshi Dohrmann,
Amelia McCoy, Meghan O’Donoghue, Emily Williams and Peri
Winborne.
