Golden Eagles make trek south for Seminole Invitational Friday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams continue their 2020-21 campaigns Friday morning, taking part in the Seminole Invitational hosted by Florida State at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.

The event features six total races, with three for the men's teams and three for the women's teams. The Garnet race will be 20 Division I teams while the Gold race will feature 18 Division I teams, plus the top 14 individuals. The Open race will be Non-Division I teams, plus additional runners from the Division I teams.

The Golden Eagle men's squad will compete in the Gold race 8K at 9:00 a.m. CT while the Tech women's team will take part in the Gold race 6K at 9:30 a.m.

The men's team is coming off a third-place showing at the Belmont Opener on Jan. 24, led by senior Ababu Mohamed and freshmen Chase Faudi and Clayton Kirkus. For the Golden Eagle women, it was rookie Amanda Laboy leading the way at the Belmont Opener, followed by Rahab Sawe and Alexa Brugere.

The Field
The Seminole Invitational's Gold race field on the men's side consists of Cal Baptist, Colorado, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa State, Jacksonville, Liberty, Mercer, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Florida, Southeast Louisiana, Southern Utah, Stanford, Syracuse, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Utah State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, West Florida and Youngstown State.

The Seminole Invitational's Gold race field on the women's side consists of host Florida State, as well as Boston College, Colorado, Eastern Kentucky, Florida, Iowa State, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Florida, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Utah State, West Florida, West Virginia and Youngstown State.

Following this weekend's race, the Tech squads will return home to host the Golden Eagle Open on Feb. 19 in Cookeville, Tenn.
