Three set personal best marks as Tech women place 16th at Vandy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Senior Rebecca Cline led the Tennessee Tech women's cross country team Saturday and was one of three veterans to post career-best 5K times as the Golden Eagles placed 16th among 20 teams at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic.

Cline, along with seniors Yeshi Dohrmann and Meghan O'Donoghue, all posted career-best numbers. Cline covered the route in 18:57.52 to place 56th overall individually. Senior Peri Winborne was next for Tech, finishing 9n 20:20.60 for 97th place, finishing just off her career-best time. Finishing third for coach Tony Cox's team was senior Amelia McCoy, also narrowly missing her PR with a time of 20:30.34 to place 102nd.

The career-best times put Dohrmann in 103rd place at 20:31.12, while O'Donoghue was 107th in 20:37.88. Freshman Claire Cashin, running that distance for the first time in her Tech career, placed 118th in 21:31.34. Elizabeth Mitchell rounded out Tech's lineup in 126th place in 22:45.86.

The host team, Vanderbilt, won the team title with 38 points, easily topping runnerup Lipscomb (65). Ole Miss (83) was third, Mississippi State (100) fourth, and Central Arkansas (160) fifth to complete the top five. Belmont, one of XXX OVC teams in the field, placed sixth, joined by Morehead State (11th/302), Jacksonville State (15th/388), Tennessee Tech (16th/465), UT Martin (18th/514), and Tennessee State (20th/607).

The next meet for the Golden Eagles is the Jacksonville State Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 5.
